The digital revolution has brought new forms of gender-based violence. Non-consensual sharing of intimate images, cyberstalking, online harassment, and deepfakes are increasingly common threats.

The Scale of the Problem

With over 700 million internet users in India, the digital space has become a new frontier for gender-based violence. The anonymity of the internet emboldens perpetrators while making survivors feel even more vulnerable.

The internet should be a space of freedom, not fear. Digital rights are human rights.

Legal Protections

Section 66A (struck down), Section 67 of the IT Act, and Section 354C/D of the IPC provide some protection, but enforcement remains challenging.
